About
It's nice to meet you! You may be wanting to learn a little bit more about who I am as a person, and as a therapist, before scheduling a consult or visit. Just check out the info below, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have specific questions.

My Background and Approach
I've always had a deep curiosity about the way our brains and bodies work, and growing up in a home where my parents struggled with their mental health led me to formal study in clinical psychology, and fueled a passion to help others in their journeys toward well-being. I've been in therapy myself, so I understand the courage it takes to find and trust a therapist, and know how important it is that they be a good fit for you. I believe that every person is unique, and so I tailor my approach to meet my client's needs. My virtual office is a judgement-free zone, and I am welcoming and affirming of people from all different walks of life, cultures, races, religions, and orientations. Our first meeting will be a time for us to talk in-depth about your experiences and goals for the future, and how I might help you achieve those.
My Training and Focus
I grew up in the Los Angeles area, and chose UCLA for my undergraduate studies. I'm a bit of a science nerd, and was able to benefit from their excellent training in research methodology. My clients tell me frequently they enjoy hearing about the most recent studies and how they can apply them to their situations. I continued my education at Pepperdine University, where I focused on Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition to learning all the skills and techniques for counseling individuals, I received training in understanding complex family dynamics and helping clients heal from childhood wounds, as well as improving communication and attachment in relationships.

Experiences
After working with children, teens, and family in California, my husband and I moved to Austin, Texas, to be closer to his family. There, I was fortunate to work in a variety of settings that increased my skills and knowledge, including a crisis clinic and brief residential treatment program, a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program, and substance use treatment, as well as private practice. During the pandemic, my husband retired and we made the decision to once again live by the beach, only this time on the East Coast. We are now living in Delaware and I am fortunate to be working with both Delawareans and Texans...but I still haven't been able to stop saying "ya'll".
